Getting Started with Our OCR Tool
Our Image to Text converter is designed to be simple, fast, and accessible to everyone. You don't need to install any software or create an account. This guide will walk you through the process of using our tool to get the best possible results.
Step 1: Upload Your Image or PDF
Navigate to our OCR Tool page. You can upload a file in two ways:
- Click to Upload: Click anywhere in the dashed box to open your file browser and select an image.
- Drag and Drop: Simply drag your image file from your computer and drop it directly into the upload area.
We support common formats including JPG, PNG, WebP, and PDF. For best results, ensure the file size is under 10MB.
Step 2: Review the Preview
Once uploaded, you will see a preview of your image. This allows you to confirm that you've selected the correct file and that the text is clearly visible. If the image looks blurry or rotated, you may want to upload a better version for higher accuracy.
Step 3: Click "Extract Text"
Click the primary action button to start the OCR process. You will see a progress bar indicating that our AI engine is analyzing the image. This typically takes between 2 to 10 seconds depending on the amount of text and the image quality.
Step 4: Copy or Download Your Text
After processing, the extracted text will appear in a text box below the tool. You can:
- Edit: Click inside the box to make manual corrections if needed.
- Copy: Use the "Copy Text" button to save it to your clipboard.
- Download: Use the "Download as TXT" button to save the result as a text file on your device.
Tips for Maximum Accuracy
While our OCR engine is highly advanced, the quality of the output depends heavily on the quality of the input. Follow these tips to ensure 99%+ accuracy:
1. Use High Resolution
Scanned documents should ideally be 300 DPI. For photos, ensure the camera is focused and the text is sharp.
2. Ensure Good Lighting
Avoid shadows or glare on the document. Even lighting helps the AI distinguish characters from the background.
3. Keep it Straight
Try to keep the text horizontal. While our tool can handle slight angles, perfectly straight text yields the best results.
4. Standard Fonts
Clear, printed fonts (like Arial, Times New Roman, or Calibri) are recognized much more accurately than stylized or decorative fonts.
Common Use Cases
Our users use Image2Text for a variety of tasks, including:
- Digitizing Notes: Turn photos of handwritten or printed notes into editable digital documents.
- Extracting Data: Quickly pull information from receipts, invoices, or business cards.
- Accessibility: Convert printed text into digital format for screen readers or translation tools.
- Archiving: Make scanned historical documents searchable by converting them to text.
